My Experience

After a year of constant use, this drill continues to be just a reliable as the day I bought it. During the year, I’ve drilled into wood and concrete many times with ease. I haven’t been on the jobsite where drills face the ultimate test, so I can’t speak for its durability there. But as a homeowner and experienced DIYer, I can tell you that the brushless DEWALT Atomic DCD709 hammer drill/driver is great quality and dependable.

The Atomic line is made up of smaller, low-profile drills, and they come handy when working in tight spaces. This drill feels great in my hand and even though it’s a bit smaller than typical cordless drills, it’s been powerful enough to handle any application that I’ve needed for. And you can add this drill to your existing family of 20V MAX, FLEXVOLT, and POWERSTACK batteries, as they are compatible.

In case you were wondering, the difference between this drill and the DEWALT DCD708 drill is the hammer function. That and the DCD708 is a tad smaller and lighter. This drill is obviously more expensive than the other, and you may prefer to save money by not having the hammer function. I’ve always preferred, though, to have that extra bit of functionality in my cordless drills, if available, in case a need arises to drill into concrete.

If you’re a DIYer, yes, get this drill. Buy it with confidence!
